happy birthday chris!

today is the hubby's b-day and even though he is not a fan his birthday, he is still getting a birthday post :)

our anniversary was less than a month ago, but i want to echo everything i said there... chris you are my best friend, and i am so glad that we found each other. you make me laugh, you spoil me rotten, you challenge me and believe in me. thank you for it all!

i love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday and a great 28th year... happy birthday <3

**************************
i have discovered that waking up to run on monday mornings does not work for me. it's just not going to happen. so i have again shifted my schedule around to make mondays my rest day. i moved a recovery run to sunday post-long run which i actually really like anyways, and shifted the other days, so we will see how this works. training schedules are all about making them work for you, and i *think* i've finally gotten it there for me now for the next 12 weeks... but it's always a work in progress. i however am not making anymore versions of this one (seriously), it's done and whatever happens over the next 12 weeks happens!

i thought about running after work yesterday since i didn't get up but once i saw triple digits on my car thermometer at 5pm i knew that was not going to happen... must stick to the morning runs!

this morning i got up for an uneventful 6 miler. my legs never really felt warmed up so i just kept the pace easy and let them cruise.

6.0 miles/55:34/9:15 avg pace

have a great day!

I hope Chris has a wonderful birthday!! I am sure you will stick with this newly arranged schedule. Sounds like morning runs will have to work! Triple digit temps, are awful.

Happy Birthday to your Hubby! I hate running on Monday's as well, I think you made a good choice is changing it. Wait until you have kids, it makes it even harder to get up on Monday's!

Happy B-Day to your hubbs!
Man, what happened to the beautiful mild Bay Area weather? Sheesh! I'm in the same boat as you! Only, I am running late in the evening because I can't get my arse out of bed even if it isn't a Monday! LOL! Enjoy the evening with Chris ;)

Monday mornings, in general, are really hard to get in any kind of workout before work... especially if your weekend didn't follow the same schedule as the week before. I think it took me 8 months, during the school year, to realize this one. Thus, I must remember this when we start back up in August... Monday's will be rest days, unless I do something "easy/short" in the afternoon!

Happy Birthday to Chris!!!

My schedule gets all sorts of wacky, so I'm always ready to keep my plans fluid.

I have so many posts of yours to catch up on! You are a very prolific blogger - which is a great thing. First off - happy birthday Chris. Second off - I am really inspired by the way in which you are going through your training program and trying to sort out how to make it work for you - it's inspiring and interesting. I agree with you on the recovery run after the long run - I am really enjoying doing my long run on a Saturday and stretching everything out on a Sunday. As for Mondays - rest. A girl needs it. Keep it up!

Oh yes and I'm with the gazelle - hubby's a hottie..

Birthday wishes for Chris!

I love the idea of a recovery run Sunday and Monday off. I ALWAYS take Mondays off because I'm tired and just don't feel like it, no matter what.

I know, it's hot. Funny though, I wouldn't run on a Friday if you paid me but Mondays are no problem. Way to make your schedule work!

Happy birthday to your main dude! He's pretty cute, FYI.

I keep switching runs around, too. Summers are full of adventures, so running is not "the only thing" on the schedule, as it almost always is the case in the winter. As long as the miles get done, who cares!

Happy Birthday to the best son-in-law a Mom could ask for. Have a great evening you two...

It's hard enough getting up for work on Monday mornings. Especially after your weekend, you were pretty busy.

Even though I'm old enough to be his mom, I'm still going to purr at the sight of your husband. Ooooh, he's cute!! ;)

Mondays are the perfect rest day - there's so much else to contend with, rest is good!

Running in the morning is not easy but sooo much better IMO. I function a ton better plus i'm not worried about getting my run done, because well, its already done! :)

Triple digit temps?! EWW!!! I love going through training and figuring out what works for me, and how adjustable my schedule really is. I never thought it was before!

Happy Birthday to Chris!

Hopefully, you've found a schedule that works for you. I can't get up monday mornings either. I had a great swim/weights session last night after work. I personally can't take Monday's off or my whole week (mentally) is messed up, I need to MOVE on Monday =).

Hope you two have something fun planned to celebrate.

Hey, Lucky Girl...happy bday to hubs!! ;-)

Good decision to switch up your runs, you gotta do what works for you.

Adam said...

I hate my birthday too - so I can relate. In fact, I turn the big 28 within a week and you'll hear nothing about it on my blog :) (maybe it is a July birthday / Cancer sign thing..)

Good call on the runs. I'm a morning person and I had to change my runs to the night during the week to accommodate work. Gotta do what gets you out there!

Hope Chris has a great birthday! Monday mornings are tough!

Happy birthday to Chris! And on monday mornings, I think it's hard to do ANYTHING.

Happy birthday to the birthday boy!!

I'm up for debate over which day is harder to wake up for...Monday or Friday!

trialsoftraining said...

Ha I am Constantly switching my training schedule around. I focus on the miles and the paces mostly, and the Long Runs don't usually change (except, um, recently, but whateva!). You're exactly right - it's about what works for You! :)

happy birthday to yo' Man!!

Shannon said...

When I noticed that my new training schedule gave me mondays off I was thrilled. There's just something unpleasant about Monday....

Runner Leana said...

Getting up on Mondays is hard enough as it is, let alone trying to get up extra early to workout. Sounds like making Monday a rest day is a great idea! Hope you are having a great week!
